Jackson Square is delighted to share significant progress on its ambitious redevelopment programme, which continues to refresh the shopping experience for the Bishop’s Stortford community.
Building on previous announcements, the shopping centre is thrilled to report that the project has reached several key milestones. Mamdani Opticians, F. Hinds, and Photosound all successfully moved into their newly refurbished, modern units within the centre earlier this year, showcasing a commitment to supporting our existing retailers during this transition.
Excited shoppers will have noticed the steel structure for the north extension is now complete, marking a significant step forward in the redevelopment plans. This achievement paves the way for the next phase of construction, as they begin work on the internal floors of this area.
Looking ahead, the team at Jackson Square are pleased to share that the steel structure for the east extension is scheduled for erection in December, with completion expected before Christmas. This progress keeps the development on track for their ambitious timeline and brings them closer to achieving their vision for a revitalised Jackson Square.
Michael Smith, Centre Manager at Jackson Square, commented: “These developments are crucial steps towards welcoming TK Maxx to Jackson Square in its impressive new 20,000 sq ft unit. We’re on schedule to hand over the unit to TK Maxx on July 2025, allowing for a 8-10 week fit-out period before opening. This addition to our retail offerings is sure to excite shoppers and draw more visitors to our centre.
He added “Despite some unforeseen groundwork challenges we’ve been working closely with local stakeholders to address these issues, ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality in our work. The community’s patience and support during this process has been invaluable and greatly appreciated.
To minimise disruption during the construction phase, we’ve established a temporary pit lane on Bridge Street, with permission granted until November 22nd. We want to assure the community that this arrangement has been carefully planned to ensure that the vital Christmas trading period for the town will not be impacted, allowing businesses and shoppers to enjoy the festive season without hindrance.”
